Man City Transfer News: Roberto Mancini Plans Summer Clear-Out

Metro. Defenders Joleon Lescott and Maicon, midfielders Samir Nasri and Scott Sinclair, as well as striker Edin Dzeko are all in line for the chop, as the Italian tries to build a team capable of wresting the Premier League title back from Manchester United's grasp next season. Mancini blames his side's failure to defend their league title on the club's shortcomings in the summer and January transfer windows. The Italian continues to blame City's inability to land Arsenal's Robin van Persie last year as a major contributing factor in United winning the Premier League, while he also continues to rue missing out on Eden Hazard, who ended up at Chelsea. He also wanted to bring in Javi Martinez and Daniele Di Rossi, but ended up with Jack Rodwell, Maicon, Sinclair and Javi Garcia, all of whom have endured disappointing seasons. Mancini is determined the same mistakes will not be made next season and hopes that by clearing out the deadwood at the Etihad, the club's board could be persuaded into spending big in the transfer window on prime targets such as Edison Cavani of Napoli, Everton's Marouane Fellaini and Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao. Mancini remarked:

"It is important that we know that last year we didn€™t work well and we are hoping that this year we can. "We are at the end of this championship. We have time, but not a lot of time. We should have our targets in mind. You should move very quickly. "We didn€™t do this last year. We moved so slowly. We lost the players that were our targets to improve our team."
