Inside Futbol, via Turin-based daily sports newspaper Tuttosport, are reporting that Man City recently failed in a bid to prize Bosnian playmaker Miralem Pjanić away from Serie A champions Juventus.

The article claims City tabled a €50 million (approx £43 million) bid for the midfielder, but Juve, in no mood to lose one of their star players, rejected it almost immediately.

As reported last week, Pep Guardiola's team have apparently sealed the capture of 26-year old midfielder Jorginho from Napoli for the same fee. It seems that wasn't enough for Pep though, and he planned to make Pjanić the latest part of his apparent plan to assemble the world's best midfield.

Juventus have supposedly scuppered such plans by turning down City's overture. This is an interesting one to keep an eye on, not least because Juve have shown interest in purchasing Lazio's Sergej Milinković-Savić. He plays a similar position to Pjanić, so the Italian champions may be willing to do business with City if they're able to sign their own target this summer.
