Man City Transfers: 5 Centre-Backs Citizens Need To Bolster Defence

Last night we witnessed the full attacking prowess at Manchester City's disposal as last season's Premier League runners-up ruthlessly dismantled a 10-man Newcastle team at the Etihad. It was the Citizen's familiar faces who did all the damage as David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri got their names on the scoresheet, and that's not taking into account the exciting new talent at manager Manuel Pellegrini's beck and call. Jesus Navas started on the wing, striker Alvaro Negredo came on as a second half substitute while forward Stevan Jovetic, who scored thirteen league goals last season, wasn't even on the bench. The Sky Blue's attacking might is frightening, and so it should be considering the £90 million outlay it took to assemble. With arguably one of the best attacks in the division though, are there are any chinks in City's armour? An argument could be made that defensively, they're not quite there quite yet. Pellegrini's men won five and lost four of their pre-season games, losing the last two at the start of August and conceding eight times in three games, three of which were shipped against Arsenal in a 3-1 defeat. Added to that, centre-back Matija Nastasic picked up a worrying injury and was carried off on a stretcher in a pre-season game against Sunderland in Hong Kong. Therefore, a new defensive recruit or two may not go amiss and here, we take a look at 5 Centre-Backs Citizens Need To Bolster Defence. Click "Next" to begin.
