Man City Transfers: 5 Things You Need To Know About New Signing Bruno Zuculini

It was always going to happen with such a precocious talent, but Manchester City have won the race to sign highly rated Argentine youngster Bruno Zuculini, ahead of rivals Manchester United and Barcelona. The 20-year-old has been held in high regard for some time by the world's top clubs, and this latest coup from City's hierarchy highlights the direction they wish to take the side in. Back in September of last year, the upstarts from Manchester appointed Ferran Soriano, formerly of Barcelona, as their new chief executive. They followed this up just two months later with the appointment of Txiki Begiristain, also formerly of the Catalan giants, as their new director of football, and both men signalled the start of a revolution at the club. City have primarily, or entirely in fact depended on stars that have been bought by the club for ridiculous sums of money to see them through and allow them to challenge for trophies. One factor where they have failed miserably is in the promotion of youth players, and the approach adopted by clubs like Bayern Munich and Barcelona has obviously appealed to the City owners. With the appointments of Begiristain and Soriano they have started a trend with the side that they hope will bring the success of their German and Spanish counterparts. The club further went down the philosophy over spending route by making Manuel Pellegrini the manager, a man who embodies the possession based solid approach to the game and is a hallmark of consistency. Whilst there are still teething problems for the Chilean coach, his style has brought some stunning results, most notably a 6-0 drubbing of Tottenham Hotspur. This then is the way the club want to move forward, and they have stated on several occasions that they wish City to be more self sufficient, and they expect their spending to drop dramatically over the next few years as young talent begins to take priority. This explains the signing of Zuculini. The Argentine is relatively old for a young player at 20, but it is his style of play that attracted the club to him, and he could end up playing a huge part of City's future. As a result, here are five things that you will need to know about this young midfielder.
