Man City vs Man Utd - 5 Greatest Manchester Derbies

Rueopu This time last year you wouldn't have thought we'd be going into the next Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium without the sly Italian mind of Roberto Mancini and even more so, the wise old mind of Sir Alex Ferguson. Yet here we are, four games into the new Premier League season and without either of those faces as a Foreign Manchester City manager and a Scottish Manchester United manager head into their first ever Manchester derbies - maybe some things don't change eh? Manuel Pellegrini and David Moyes have both made fairly solid starts to their first seasons in Manchester. Both with 7 points on the board and having won 2 of their opening four games, the two teams currently sit 4th and 5th in the Barclays Premier League table. However, United have had a harder start to the current premiership season and after emphatically beating League Cup champions Swansea, 4-1 in their own backyard, they followed it up with 0-0 draw at home to Jose Mourinho's Chelsea before a 1-0 loss at Anfield - a stadium David Moyes has still never won at - saw some questions raised about the current United squad. Moyes' response would be to sign old friend Marouane Fellaini at the deadline of deadline day- who subsequently helped the team to a 2-0 win at home to play-off champions Crystal Palace, courtesy of goals from Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie. Both players were also on the scoresheet in United's 4-2 win against Sami Hyppia's Bayer Leverkusen side in midweek. On the other hand, City made an equally impressive start in the first Monday Night Football game of the season. They battered a sorry Newcastle side 4-0, and things looked good- only for them then to go to Championship winners Cardiff and lose 3-2. Pellegrini's Citizens got themselves back on track with a 2-0 win at home to Cardiff's fellow new-boys, Hull City. The win was described as far from convincing, and those doubts were followed up by a boring 0-0 draw away at Stoke City. Thankfully then, City went to the Czech Republic and smashed a sorry Viktoria Plzen side 3-0, with an absolute beauty from Yaya Toure. City had won their first game in the Champions League for almost two years and there was optimism around the Etihad. As both teams thereofore go into this battle with relative momentum, we take a look at the 5 Greatest Manchester Derbies.
