Man Utd Dream XI For The Premier League Opener

Manchester United's starting XI could look very different come August 16...

The festival that is the World Cup may be over but don't despair football fans - the Premier League will be back on our TV screens in a little under a month and for Manchester United supporters that couldn't come soon enough. United endured a miserable campaign under David Moyes last time round but with Louis van Gaal in charge there's every reason for optimism as we prepare ourselves for the opening round of fixtures on August 16, when the Red Devils take on Swansea. By then, United's starting XI could look vastly different to the one we've grown accustomed to down the years with this summer set to be one of change for the Old Trafford giants. Club captain Nemanja Vidic has gone, as have fellow stalwarts Patrice Evra and Rio Ferdinand, while Ryan Giggs has finally stepped into retirement. The passing of the old guard however will herald new blood at the club and already we've seen the acquisitions of Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera. Left-back Shaw has joined from Southampton while midfielder Herrera arrived from Athletic Bilbao and fans will be excited to see how they perform for their new side. We're likely to see many more new arrivals at the Theatre of Dreams in the coming weeks and here, using players already at United's disposal and implementing hypothetical transfers into the equation, we take a look at Man Utd's Dream XI For The Premier League Opener, using van Gaal's favoured 4-3-3 formation.
