Man Utd €100m Muller Bid 'Confirmed as Untrue'

There is apparently no truth to the reports emerging from Germany.

Manchester United are not about to break the British transfer record for the second summer in a row, despite reports in Germany claiming that a ‚100 million (£70 million) move for Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller is on the cards. Just a couple of hours after the original story from Sport1 appeared, the Manchester Evening News published an article revealing the rumour has been "confirmed as untrue". United pulled off a sensational deal to sign Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern just last week, but it seems a move for his former team-mate Muller is most definitely not going to happen, at least not for the time being. Speculation regarding the 25-year-old German World Cup winner emerged shortly after United boss Louis van Gaal had hinted there could be a "surprise" arrival at Old Trafford before the end of the summer. The pair had previously worked together during van Gaal's time in charge at the Allianz Arena. United have yet to add a new forward to their ranks after the departures of Radamel Falcao and Robin van Perise. It remains to be seen quite who van Gaal has in mind, although reports of renewed interest in £95m rated Gareth Bale have recently resurfaced.
