Man Utd Poll: Do You Still Trust Van Gaal?

Is the Dutchman the right man for the job?

Louis Van Gaal never starts well, that much has already been made abundantly clear: but even with that in mind, it can't have been in many fans' minds that he would lead his new side to a defeat and two draws with the opposition United have faced so far this season. And the less said about the humiliation of losing to MK Dons the better. Van Gaal is already on the back foot, insisting to the press that he needs to be trusted, that his system will win out in the end, and that he will be a success at United. Sadly for him, the time the club spent under David Moyes last season is still very much fresh in the memory, and fans are all too aware that though he has invested £166m this season, the squad is still a long way from the right strength. So the question here is whether or not fans should be trusting Van Gaal in the long term. His focus on rebuilding and reshaping the culture of the club is admirable, but his treatment of some players - like newly ousted Shinji Kagawa and completely cast of Marouane Fellaini seems a little off. They can't play his system - which even he wasn't playing with Holland until an injury to Kevin Strootman forced the change - so he has cut them, without considering their talent. It's hard to tell what lies in store for United, and while the future will undoubtedly be brighter (or so fans can only hope) there has to come a breaking point even early in the season when United turn defeats and abject draws into wins. Because the possibility of not finishing fourth in the Premier League again is unthinkable. Do you trust Van Gaal to bring the good times back?
