Man Utd Transfer News: Chelsea To Offer £30 Million For Wayne Rooney

Sunday Mirror, Chelsea chairman Roman Abramovich has made a transfer enquiry for unhappy Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney. The Chelsea billionaire is keen to bring the 27-year-old to Stamford Bridge, despite Manchester United claiming this past week that the striker is not for sale. Rooney, 27, handed in his second transfer request in just three years in another attempt to leave Old Trafford. Wayne Rooney has been linked with several other clubs, with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain also in the run in for the player. A source has said:

€œChelsea want to make sure that if Wayne leaves United, there is only one place he will go. They are prepared to spend, big, big money on Rooney and they have told United that.€
Chelsea are willing to spend over £30 million on Rooney and would match his £250,000-a-week United contract. The signing of Robin van Persie seems to have pushed Wayne Rooney back to an attacking midfielder, something he is not happy about. The Englishman has been substituted in several games in the last few months and even failed to make an appearance in Sir Alex Ferguson€™s last home game. Despite the interest in the player, Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed the club want to keep Rooney and will not accept the player's transfer request. Ferguson€™s successor, David Moyes will address the Rooney situation and attempt to keep the player at the club for the foreseeable future. This won't be the first time Wayne and Moyes have linked up, eleven years ago Moyes gave 16-year-old Wayne Rooney his Premier League debut for Everton.
