Man Utd Transfer News: Luis Muriel Is Wayne Rooney Replacement?

Metro. Moyes has only made one purchase since succeeding from the retired Sir Alex Ferguson, by landing Uruguayan fullback Guillermo Varela from Atletico Penarol. And the former Everton boss could have another young South American in his sights as he aims to push through a deal for 22-year-old Muriel. The Udinese hitman has been compared to Brazil legend Ronaldo and can play either as an out-and-out striker or on the wings. The Colombian tops Moyes' list of potential replacements for Rooney, who continues to be linked with a move to Chelsea. The Blues have now had two bids for the 27-year-old rejected, the most recent of which was received at the beginning of the week, at £25 million plus add-ons. Moyes remains insistent that the England international is not for sale, but Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho remains determined to bring him to Stamford Bridge. Rooney has been left "angry and confused" by Moyes's recent claim that he is no longer the club's No.1 striker, and is frustrated at having to play second fiddle to Robin van Persie last season.
