Man Utd Transfer News: Moyes Would Treble Thiago Alcantara's Wages

Metro. The midfielder is one of new United manager David Moyes' No.1 transfer targets this summer ahead of the Scot's debut season at Old Trafford, and the ex-Everton boss is keen to get his man. The 22-year-old is considered among the most promising up-and-coming youngsters in European football and last month captained Spain to Euro U21 glory, scoring a hat-trick in the final against Italy. But he found appearances difficult to come by at the Nou Camp last reason, which is why he is "only" available for £15 million. The youngster featured in less than 60% of Barcelona's matches last season, which, due to a clause inserted in the contract he signed two years ago, allows him to leave for that amount rather than his usual release clause of £77 million. That is leaving the Premier League champions confident they can secure a deal and they are even prepared to offer him triple what he currently picks up in wages in Spain. Bayern Munich, however, may attempt to scupper United's plans by making a counter offer to take Alcantara to Germany instead.
