Manchester United may split yesterday's rejected joint bid for Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini and left-back Leighton Baines and return with separate bids, according to the
Guardian. Everton described as "derisory and insulting" the joint £28 million offer put on the table by United for the duo and rejected it "out of hand" after being left angered by the champion's valuation. The £16 million offered for Fellaini was a decrease on what United manager David Moyes paid Standard Liege for the midfielder's services back in 2008 during his time at Toffee's chief, while the £12 million tabled for Baines was the same amount that was rejected by the Goodison Park club back in June. Despite Everton rejecting the offer, this is unlikely to be the Red Devil's last attempt at signing the pair with Moyes yet to make a senior signing as United manger with just two weeks of the transfer window left to run. Any further attempts to sign Fellaini would see the Scot go back in for the Belgian international for a second time while a repeat attempt at signing Baines would be Moyes's third time of asking. He is keen on being reunited with the pair whom he signed for Everton from Standard Liege and Wigan Athletic, respectively.
