Man Utd Transfer News: Red Devils Winning Race To Sign Bruno Gomes

Manchester United are winning the race to sign Deportivo wonder kid Bruno Gomes, according to the Express. The 17-year-old forward has been winning rave reviews recently, having also attracted the interest of Real Madrid, Udinese and Sao Paulo. Gomes is however expected to join United over their rivals once he turns 18 after impressing on a trial at Old Trafford last summer. The Reds have first refusal on the precocious youngster, but the deal will be cancelled if a bid over a certain amount is received from a rival club. Recently-retired boss Sir Alex Ferguson put the deal in place to protect the champions from missing out on Gomes, of whom the Scot was a huge admirer of. Current United manager David Moyes is believed to be keen to take advantage of the deal put in place by his illustrious predecessor, and is, according to reports, close to securing the starlet's signature. The Red Devils have made their move in a bid to prevent other interested parties from ruining the deal, while the Theatre of Dreams is believed to be Gomes' ideal destination upon leaving Deportivo. This will come as welcome news to embittered United fans who helplessly watched on over the summer as Marouane Fellaini became the club's only senior signing of a disappointing window.
