Man Utd Transfer News: Reds To Make £40 Million Bid For Fellaini & Baines?

baines Everton duo Morouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines are set to be subject to a £40 million bid from Manchester United this summer, according to the Liverpool Echo. The Premier League champions are reportedly closing in on the pair, as David Moyes begins his revolution at Old Trafford. Midfielder Fellaini's £23.5 million release clause expires on the 15th August, and United are keen to get a deal for the utility man wrapped up by then. The Belgian international has also been linked with a move to Arsenal, but that looks set to fall through as Arsene Wenger's priority this summer is a new striker. United have already had a summer bid for left-back Baines rejected, thought to be somewhere in the region of £10 million. The Red Devils will however make an improved offer and are prepared to match Everton's £16 million valuation of the 28-year-old fullback. Baines is seen as the long-term successor to Patrice Evra, 32 last month, with the Frenchman being linked with a move back to former club Monaco. Baines is keen on a move to Old Trafford and hopes playing for such a high-profile club and regular Champions League football will help him oust Ashley Cole from England manager Roy Hodgson's World Cup set-up. Fellaini has more than proven himself over the course of his five years in the Premier League, and Moyes is keen to lure the Everton man to the Theatre of Dreams despite reported interest from both Arsenal and Chelsea.
