Man Utd Transfer News: Robert Lewandowski To Snub Old Trafford For Bayern?

former Bayern star Lothar Matthaus. The Borussia Dortmund forward has been linked with a summer move to Premier League leaders Manchester United in the summer after putting in numerous impressive displays for Jürgen Klopp's Bundesliga Champions by scoring 20 goals in 30 appearances this season and helping them qualify for the knock-out stages of the Champions League. However Lothar Matthaus, who made over 300 appearances for Bayern between 1984-88 and 1992-2000, insists that a deal for the player to join last season's beaten Champions League finalists is all but done. Indeed, the former Germany international believes the only thing yet to be settled on is the date of which the transfer will take place. He was quoted as telling German newspaper Bild:

"I have heard that Lewandowski has agreed with Bayern, or the management of Lewandowski have. "His contract with Dortmund runs until 2014, in 2013 they can still get a high transfer fee. I heard it will be about ‚25 million to ‚30 million."
It remains to be seen if what Matthaus says actually comes to fruition, of course. Toward the end of last year, Lewandowski was heavily linked with a move to United, to the point that it was even suggested he had already agreed to £20.5 million in wages as part of an £18 million deal that would see the player move to Old Trafford.
