Man Utd Transfer News: Sir Alex Tracking £36m Porto Attacker

According to Portuguese source Abola (via Caught Offside) Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is weighing up a bid for Colombian FC Porto forward James Rodriguez, who they say has been on Sir Alex's most wanted list for some time. The United boss must now decide whether or not Porto's ‚45m (£36m) valuation is a reasonable amount to pay for the attacking midfielder. The attacking midfielder scored 13 league goals in 26 appearances last season and has started this season with 4 goals in 8 in all competitions. Rodriguez is a major prospect who could offer further options in attack with Javier Hernandez apparently dropping down the pecking order, Danny Welbeck playing out wide and Wayne Rooney operating deeper than he has in the past. He would become the latest in a line of players signed from the Primeira Liga including Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani, Anderson and, less successfully Bebe. The player offers versatility as he can operate in a wide position as well as in a more central playmaker role, he boasts a powerful left-foot shot, is strong from set-pieces and likes to play between the lines. United were linked with a move for the player this summer, as a replacement for Nani (according to the Daily Mirror), but were put off when Porto bumped his value from £25m close to £40m. What do you think United fans? Would Rodriguez be a good addition to the squad? Share your thoughts below.
