Man Utd Transfer News: Toni Kroos Deal Agreed?

Manchester United have agreed a deal with Bayern Munich to sign attacking midfielder Toni Kroos, reuniting Louis van Gaal with his former player, according to the Express. United have been locked in talks with the Bundesliga champions for the last two months, but the sacking of former manager David Moyes last month created a diversion. However, reports claim the deal is back on track following van Gaal's appointment as new manager on Monday, with 'the principles of the agreement' now in place. The 24-year-old is approaching the final year of his contract at the Allianz Arena, with the reigning European champions keen to sell now to avoid losing the attacker for nothing next summer. And van Gaal has earmarked the Germany international as one of his first signings at Old Trafford as he looks to rebuild the broken Manchester club next season. The Dutchman has been handed a £200 million warchest to do so, and is also thought to be close in agreeing a deal for Southampton left-back Luke Shaw for £30 million. Kroos played under van Gaal at the Allianz Arena and the pair won the German title together in 2010, along with the DFB-Pokal and Supercup that same year.
