Man Utd Transfer News: Wayne Rooney Denies Handing In Transfer Request

has denied handing in a transfer request. The England international fears he is being forced out of the club and is concerned fans will struggle to forgive him after asking to leave the club for the second time in three years - but denies he has handed in an official transfer request. That would go against comments made by retiring United manager Sir Alex Ferguson recently that the player had asked to leave the Premier League champions. The ex-Everton forward did not play in either of the club's two final games of the season and has been linked with a host of clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco, Chelsea, Arsenal and even Manchester City. Rooney was reportedly hoping to begin discussions with United over a new contract - despite being just over halfway through his current deal - yet United appear to be pulling the rug from under his feet, according to the report. While he admits to having clear-the-air talks with Ferguson recently, he strenuously denies he has ever handed in a written transfer request. This is the process where a player puts their desire to quit in writing and therefore waives the right to any pay-off, but Rooney claims this simply has not happened, despite Ferguson's claims to the contrary. And the player views this as a clear sign that there is an agenda to move him on.
