On the same day that Louis Van Gaal is unveiled as Manchester United's new manager after guiding his Dutch side to the semi-finals of the World Cup, Manchester United fans will be disappointed to learn that German star Toni Kroos has defied their club's apparently long-standing interest in him to sign for Real Madrid. The news is not unexpected, as Kroos took a moment out of his World Cup celebration to announce that his next dream step would be to move to Madrid, but it will nonetheless come with frustration that the deal has now been confirmed, particularly as the fee is just £24m - £3m less than United forked out for Belgian misfit Marouane Fellaini last year... https://twitter.com/Mark__Bright/status/489703366709497856 As Mark Bright rightly points out, Kroos' deal is an exceptional one for Madrid, who have sanctioned Sami Khedira's move to Arsenal for £20m in the past day or so.
