When Louis Van Gaal was announced as the new manager of Manchester United, Red Devils fans could have been forgiven for thinking that the club were on the verge of a new stage of their history. The Dutchman might come with a prickly demeanour, but he is genuinely one of the most talented figures in world management, and is definitely the man to bring the good times back to Old Trafford. Fast forward a month or so after the World Cup, and the new dawn hasn't yet risen. Though big fees have been paid for Rojo, Shaw and Herrera, the influx of new, world class talented has been relatively muted, and United fans had to watch on helplessly as the side surrendered to an opening day loss to Swansea City. Could this summer be a repeat of last year? Will United fans see the transfer window slam shut without making the progress in the market they need to? Thankfully, it looks like there are positives to be had, since United appear to be making moves, but time is quickly running out.
