9. Neven Subotic
Club: Dortmund His Dortmund team-mate Mats Hummels might be attracting the most transfer rumours recently (more of which later), but Serbian Subotic is a major influence on his team, and he is probably a more suitable option for United, not to mention a more realistic one. He has the ability to play in top level Champions League teams, and has also played alongside Nemanja Vidic for Serbia, which could count in United's favour if and when Dortmund decide to cash in on him. Obviously Vidic's time on the pitch might well be limited from now on, but Subotic would be a sensible option to prolong Vidic's career in red, especially as he is still only 31. Regardless of his injuries recently, having an international team-mate beside him might well work well for the Serbian. He was linked as Rio Ferdinand's replacement as far back as November of 2011 by
Metro, and then by the
Daily Mail in February last year, and though he would likely cost a pretty penny, he would be an excellent addition to the United squad.
