Man Utd Transfers: £40 Million Romelu Lukaku Raid On Everton?

Can Everton hold onto their top goalscorer?

Manchester United are reportedly planning to table a big-money summer bid for Everton's in-form striker Romelu Lukaku. The Red Devils are ready to shell out £40 million on the Belgian international at the end of the season, according to The Mirror. United boss Louis Van Gaal is said to have named Lukaku on a lengthy summer shopping list, which also includes the likes of Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale, Barcelona's Neymar and Sadio Mane of Southampton. Lukaku, 22, has been in scintillating form for Everton this season, netting 15 times in the Premier League, a figure that makes him the joint-leading goalscorer along with Leicester City's Jamie Vardy. Goals have been a problem for United all season, with Van Gaal's side managing just just 24 in 20 league games. Lukaku is Everton's record signing, having joined the club for £28 million from Chelsea in 2014 following a successful loan stint at Goodison Park.
