Man Utd Transfers: 5 Dream Midfielders Louis van Gaal Could Sign Before Deadline Day

Manchester United have have spent over £100 million this summer, but they still need another central midfielder.

Manchester United may well be the Premier League's biggest spenders in this summer's transfer window, but there's still a great deal of work left to be done before Monday night's deadline. The market will close at the beginning of next week and United manager Louis van Gaal remains in urgent need of a new central midfielder. £131.7 million has been splashed out on new players since last season, with the Reds bringing in left-back Luke Shaw, midfielder Ander Herrera, Angel Di Maria and his Argentina team-mate Marcos Rojo to put the likes of the usually-profligate Chelsea and Manchester City well and truly in the shade - when it comes to expenditure, at least. United still lag a long way behind their aforementioned two rivals having collected just one point from their opening two games of the season so far, while their campaign sank to all new lows following their four-nil drubbing by League Two side Milton Keynes in the Capital One Cup midweek. Central midfield is United's biggest area of concern with the likes of Anderson, Marouane Fellaini and Tom Cleverley ineffectual in recent months, while Darren Fletcher and stalwart Michael Carrick have become unreliable. Having already improved the defence and the wide areas, van Gaal still needs to add to his options in the middle of the park, and here we take a look at 5 dream options before the transfer window crashes shut next week.
