Man Utd Transfers: 5 Replacements For Wayne Rooney

Guardian claims the player is fuming over manager David Moyes' latest comments on his future. The Scottish manager said of Rooney in Bangkok at the weekend that "overall my thought on Wayne is, if for any reason we had an injury to Robin van Persie, we'll need him". That has left the 27-year-old feeling "angry and confused", while he is not prepared to allow his career to slide in the season in which England hope to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Playing second-fiddle to Robin van Persie is not an option for Rooney. That means we could see this troubling situation come to a head between now and the closing of the transfer window on August 31, with the Guardian going on to write that it would be unlikely if Rooney ever plays for United again. That's not the start to his reign as Manchester United manager that Moyes will have wished for, as he prepares to succeed from the retired Sir Alex Ferguson in August. He will have to act fast to replace Rooney, were he to leave as has been widely reported, and here, we take a look at 5 possible replacements for the England star.
