Man Utd Transfers: Chase Hots Up For Real Madrid Star?

The highly-rated centre back is thought to be worth between £44m and £59m.

Manchester United are thought to be stepping up their hunt for Real Madrid centre back Sergio Ramos, and are eyeing up a bid for the Spaniard this summer, according to a report from news.ladbrokes.com. The Red Devils came close to signing Ramos last year, but saw their deal fall flat as he signed a new contract with Real. The 29 year old would certainly cost Louis van Gaal and co. a pretty penny, with reports suggesting a price tag of between £44m and £59m. According to Ladbrokes, Ramos' agent has indicated that his client is likely to join whichever club Pep Guardiola is in charge of at the time. The current Bayern Munich boss has recently expressed a desire to manage in England next season, and with Louis van Gaal under immense pressure, he could well find himself in the Old Trafford hot-seat for 2016/17. However, even if agent Francois Gallardo's words are to be believed, Ramos' eventual destination should be considered anything but a certainty. Guardiola is far from the only candidate touted to take Louis van Gaal's job; ex-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho and current Red Devils assistant manager Ryan Giggs are listed as favourites ahead of the Bayern Munich manager.
