Man Utd Transfers: Late Varane Linked Rubbished

No signings at all incoming at Old Trafford.

Silly season is in full swing and with Sky Sports no doubt feeling their grip on millions of viewers slipping with every mention of Stuart Armstrong to Celtic and Graham Dorrans to Norwich as BIG DEALS, people are just plucking rumours out of the air. The latest - and silliest - rumours has suggested that Real Madrid's imperious centre-back Raphael Varane is on the verge of a last minute move to Man United. The player allegedly turned the former Champions down back in 2011 because they'd just signed Phil Jones, and United have been linked with renewed interest in him. But Guillem Balague has rubbished those rumours on Twitter, calling them out as entirely false: https://twitter.com/GuillemBalague/status/562312447181484035 So not only is the Frenchman not coming, but nobody is. United are still working on outgoing deals to get some more fringe players off the books, but that won't include Adnan Januzaj, who was linked with a loan move this morning to clubs like Everton. Van Gaal has played the Belgian in the last two games and he now seems to see him as more of a first-teamer. The Red Devils will continue to be linked with big money centre-half deals like Varane and Mats Hummels until they pull something off, but that won't be tonight.
