Man Utd Transfers: Ronaldo Convinces Di Maria To Make £50m Move

Sky Sports' Guillem Balague has confirmed that Angel Di Maria is about to sign for Van Gaal.

Despite suspicions that Argentinian winger Angel Di Maria might be on the verge of a move to Paris St German, after they offered him ‚8m in wages, it looks like the player is instead on his way to Man Utd. And according to Sky Sports' Spanish expert Guillem Balague, United have got a former player to thank for the player's change of heart, as Cristiano Ronaldo has apparently sold a move to United to the winger. Balague says that the deal could be worth between ‚60m and ‚70m - or around £50m - which would make Di Maria United's fourth major signing of the summer. Di Maria is a hugely talented attacker and should slot in to the Premier League well, and though he isn't exactly prolific in front of goal, he will add further attacking bite to Van Gaal's midfield, after the departure of Nani on loan. Quite whether he is worth £50m remains to be seen, and there is very much a suspicion that United are having to make a statement of intent with their transfer fees this summer after last season's disastrous 7th place finish. But then, if Di Maria can help fire Van Gaal's side back to the Champions League at the first time of asking, he will presumably be worth every penny.
