Man Utd Transfers: Should Rooney Join Bayern Munich?

The Guardian, Bayern Munich€™s honorary president, Franz Beckenbauer has announced that the German side would love to sign Manchester United€™s Wayne Rooney, only for United legend Sir Bobby Charlton to insist the deal wouldn€™t happen. Wayne Rooney, 27, failed to make the starting eleven of Manchester United€™s Champions League side against Real Madrid which has sparked speculation of a move away from Old Trafford. Despite Sir Alex Ferguson denying the claims and willing to offer the striker a new deal, rumours continue to circulate. Former player and manager of Bayern Munich, Franz Beckenbauer said he would be:

€œVery, very happy if Wayne Rooney decided to come to Bayern Munich€
Which sparked a response from Sir Bobby Charlton:
€œSir Alex Ferguson said he had no intentions of letting Wayne Rooney travel to anywhere and you have to abide by that, 100 per cent. He€™s a great player. Why would we get rid of a great player? I think you€™re being a bit premature.€
With the media continuing to guess what will happen to Wayne Rooney, the question is should he really join Bayern Munich?

Yes

Like it or not, Wayne Rooney has done everything on a club level at Manchester United picking up eleven trophies, from the League to the FIFA Club World Cup. The only thing Rooney hasn€™t accomplished is winning a trophy on the international stage and lets be honest going to Bayern Munich isn€™t going to stem into another Beckham scenario, especially considering Bayern are one of the top teams in the world. Whilst United fans might be disheartened to see Rooney exit the Old Trafford doors, just think what it would do for the club. United already have Robin van Persie, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck, do they really need Rooney? A deal which could bring in over £50 million would no doubt be invested straight back in the squad. Would United fans care if Rooney left and Ronaldo came back, I didn€™t think so.
