Sir Alex has managed to make this Manchester United team into a threatening force in European football; and are widely recognised as one of the greatest teams in Europe alongside the likes of Real Madrid and FC Barcelona; and unquestionably one of the most identifiable teams worldwide with their popularity reaching new heights as the years pass by; and Sir Alex has made this possible. His time at Manchester United will never be emulated or rivalled; no other manager will be able to attain the levels of success he has, setting the benchmark unbelievably high for future managers. The 71-year-old has captured a mammoth total of 38 trophies during his reign at Old Trafford; his haul includes 13 Premier League titles, two Champions League crowns, five FA Cups alongside four League Cups. It certainly is a sad time for Manchester United fans, and football fans in general; as this pioneer has changed the English game during his tenure at the club; besides many fans will not even remember Manchester United without Sir Alex Ferguson, he has been there since before even I was born, and it will certainly create a strange feeling having to watch David Moyes, walk up and down the Old Trafford touchline. With his final home game taking place against Swansea, and his final game as Manchester United boss away at West Bromwich Albion, Sir Alex believes he has created a good foundation, and believes the squad he leaves behind bodes well for continued success. Since the time he arrived in November 1986; he wanted to knock fierce rivals Liverpool off their perch, and he has managed to do just that, capturing the twentieth league title, and along the way; Sir Alex has made some great signings which have certainly helped the club being the force they are today. The likes of Eric Cantona and Cristiano Ronaldo have lighted up the Premier League in their own unique ways which shows the talent he has in spotting brilliant talent. With great signings, come bad signings and in Sir Alex€™ case, there have been some pretty awful transfers; certain big money-flops who have failed to make an impact led many to believe that Sir Alex is losing his eye for transfers in recent years.
