Man Utd Transfers: Why Wayne Rooney Won't Join Arsenal

Wayne Rooney had asked to leave Old Trafford has just been nothing short of incredible. Firstly, let me say this: Wayne Rooney will not, I repeat not be playing for Arsenal next season. The notion that a club with such a strict wage structure and poor recent record in all of the tournaments that count (i.e. not the Emirates Cup), should be linked with the best English player in the division is laughable. Lest we forget, roughly one year ago they probably could have kept Robin Van Persie for considerably less per week than Wazza is likely to want should he seek pastures new. The Daily Star is peddling the nonsense story of Arsene Wenger€™s hope that €˜he would be playing with England team mates Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jack Wilshere€™ as the major selling point for a Rooney transfer to the Arsenal. Give me a break. All fine young players but this boils down to cash and / or lustre with United€™s number 10. At the moment, whether Gooners like it or not, Arsenal are lacking in one or the other €“ or both €“ when it comes to potential rival suitors. Congratulations must go to the genius from The Sun, who wrote that €˜Rooney€™s dream destination is Barcelona, if he decides to quit Old Trafford€™. Well I€™m so glad that€™s cleared up then. One of the best players in the world might like to sign for one of the best; if not the best team in the world should he decide to leave. I wonder how long it took for this €˜exclusive€™ to be uncovered. Never mind the fact that the just spent approximately £49 million on the mercurial Brazilian, Neymar. Forget about the fact that the force of brilliance that is Leo Messi is currently entrenched there. Cesc Fabregas, Alexis Sanchez, and a long line of exciting youth prospects such as Christian Tello, Gerard Deulofeu and Issac Cuenca are also on the books at the Nou Camp. It seems to me that should Wayne Rooney leave Manchester United, then he will likely head to Paris St. Germain for the money, Real Madrid for the lustre (and the money!) or Chelsea, who are a sort of mish-mash of PSG and Madrid. I wouldn€™t rule out Manchester City as a potential bidder, although I see that deal as being less likely than any of the ones mentioned above. Well with so much to talk about, this story will run Wesley Sneijder style for the coming weeks and possibly months.
