Man Utd vs Liverpool: Robin Van Persie To Miss Cup Tie

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie will miss his side's Capital One Cup third round tie after failing to recover from his groin injury. The Dutchman missed the weekend's 4-1 defeat at rivals Manchester City and manager David Moyes has confirmed that he will also miss tomorrow night's match. "I don't think he will play on Wednesday. He will have an outside chance for Saturday" said Moyes. It means that Van Persie may be back to face West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford at the weekend. The 30-year-old has scored six goals this season from his six appearances including braces against both Wigan in the Community Shield and Swansea in the opening Premier League match of the season. With Van Persie missing, Mexican international Javier Hernandez is expected to come into the side to make his first start of the season following just three substitute appearances so far. Whilst one striker is ruled out of the tie another returns in the form of Luis Suarez who has completed his 10-match ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic. It is certainly an interesting match for the Uruguayan to return to following his history with Manchester United and David Moyes from his time at Everton. "It means Liverpool have got a really good player" commented Moyes when asked about the inclusion of Suarez. "Does it change the complexion (of the game)? I am not looking at Liverpool too much. I just know the qualities of Luis Suarez are very good." Wednesday night's encounter will be the first time the two teams have met in the competition since the 2003 final when Liverpool claimed the trophy with a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Steven Gerrard and Michael Owen.
