Man Utd vs Real Madrid: 5 Stats That Prove United Will Win

4. United Have Played 3 Finals In Five Years

Manchester United last won the Champions League in Moscow in 2008; Real Madrid last won Europe's top prize in 2002 and they haven't been in the final since. They haven't built a culture of Champions League winning, and that often makes the difference between a win and a loss in this competition. Sir Alex has guided his team to one Champions League win and two runner-up places in 2009 and 2011, after being defeated by Barcelona on both occasions. He knows how to win in this competition. The Champions League is different to the league, every game is unique whether you play a first leg or a second. You can face one team in one leg and play a completely different side in the next, and as such mentality is key, as is experience and Manchester United's current squad know all about finals. Madrid€™s do not, and that should prepare United for the occasion at the very least. With this being said, Madrid€™s Champions League record is incredible, they have proven themselves time and time again. Eleven years has passed since their last final and they need to get past an in-form United if they want to change that.
