Man Utd vs Wigan: Team News, Match Preview & Likely Line-Ups

Community Shield Manchester United and Wigan Athletic will contest the first piece of silverware of the season as the two sides come head-to-head in tomorrow's Community Shield at Wembley Stadium. New United manager David Moyes will be hoping to put a dreadful pre-season campaign behind him by lifting his first trophy as manager of the Red Devils, having won just two of his first seven games at the club. Friday's 3-1 defeat to Sevilla in Rio Ferdinand's testimonial was not the way the champions will have hoped to have started their run up to the new season, but victory here today will whitewash those bad memories. As for Wigan, the Latics also have a new manager in Owen Coyle, who will be hoping lightning strikes twice for his new club who are aiming for back-to-back triumphs at Wembley. Back in May, the Lancashire outfit stunned Manchester City by prevailing 1-0 in the FA Cup final to set up this encounter, and a win here would be just as big of an upset. However, United triumphed 4-0 home and away over their opposition last season, and are the clear favourites.
