Man Utd Draw Liverpool In Capital One Cup Third Round

Manchester United have been drawn at home to Liverpool in the third round of the Capital One Cup. United didn't enter at the second round stage due to them being in the Champions League while Liverpool had to overcome Notts County in a thrilling 4-2 win at Anfield last night. Other stand-out ties include a repeat of last season's FA Cup final as Wigan Athletic travel to the Etihad to face Manchester City, while there are four more all-Premier League affairs. Aston Villa will play host to Tottenham, Arsenal will visit West Brom, Fulham take on Everton and West Ham entertain newly-promoted Cardiff. Last season's winners, Swansea City, have been drawn away to Birmingham City while Swindon face Europa League winners Chelsea. By far the most enticing fixture however is of course Manchester United vs Liverpool. The two heavyweights will now meet each other twice in the same month as they clash in the Premier League at Anfield this Sunday. No team has won the League Cup more times than Liverpool, who have been victorious eight times, while United have won the competition four times. All Round 3 ties are scheduled to be played 24/25 September.
