Man Utd Transfers: 6 Signings Fergie Must Push Through This Summer

6. Luka Modric

Luka ModricClub: Real Madrid After his big money move to Madrid from Tottenham, the Croatian could have been forgiven for thinking he would be one of the team's new starting Galacticos, but it hasn't quite worked out like that so far. Modric's first six months in Madrid have been a disappointment for the playmaker to thrive in Jose Mourinho's system, and he has been linked with a summer move to Old Trafford by the Sunday Mirror (via the Daily Mail). Quite how much of the £33million they paid for him they will make back remains to be seen, but given Modric's form, and the comparative lack of game time he is getting, it surely won't be that high. Modric would be a better immediate option than United's Shinji Kagawa, who might find himself forced out of the team if the Croatian signs, but really, United need to replace Paul Scholes better than they have done so far, and with Robert Lewandowski apparently moving to Bayern Munich in the summer, Sir Alex needs another option.
