Match Preview: Manchester United vs. Chelsea

A ferocious tie at Old Trafford is expected between two great sides but I think United's momentum will prove too much for the Blues.

Sky Sports Super Sunday 4pm kick off today at Old Trafford see's Manchester United and Chelsea lock horns as the fifth match of their respective Premier League campaigns but already football pundits have ruled out The Blues from winning the ultimate prize in British football this season, predicting it will instead be The Sky Blues of Manchester City who are United's only rivals for glory. But in truth it's way too early to tell and if Chelsea were able to pick up a win today, which they have an experienced team more than capable of doing, then they will leap frog United in the table. Hardly a case of the title being sewn up yet? Chelsea themselves have won four on the bounce and a draw away to Stoke on the opening day of the season might prove to be a great result when all is said and done. Though obviously they will be aware that United have scored an incredible 18 goals in 4 matches (a new Premier League record) with Wayne Rooney scoring eight! Manchester United's shaky draw against Benfica in the Champions League mid-week with the evergreen Ryan Giggs turning back the clock to get them out of jail is perhaps a first sign that United aren't going to breeze through every match this season and Andre-Villas Boas, in his first bout against Fergie as Chelsea manager, will be hoping to inflict a result that will stop what will be United's 21st home wins off the bounce.

Team News;

No new injuries were picked up midweek so it's still Nemanja Vidic (calf), Tom Cleverley (foot) and Rafael (shoulder) and Danny Welbeck (hamstring) who won't play. Though he will likely make many changes from the side who did play in Europe such as Rio Ferdinand and obviously Rooney, Hernandez and Ashley Young will start. Meanwhile for Chelsea, Didier Drogba is still out but apart from goalkeepers Hilario and Ross Turnbull carrying knocks, there are no new injuries to report. Experienced John Terry and Frank Lampard will return. Line-ups; Man United (from): De Gea, Lindegaard; Evans, Evra, Fabio, Jones, Smalling, Ferdinand, Anderson, Carrick, Fletcher, Giggs, Nani, Park, Valencia, Young; Berbatov, Hernandez, Owen, Rooney. Chelsea (from): Cech, Ivanovic, Bosingwa, Ferreira, Terry, Luiz, Alex, Cole, Mikel, Romeu, McEachran, Ramires, Lampard, Meireles, Mata, Malouda, Torres, Anelka, Sturridge, Kalou, Lukaku, Hilario, Turnbull. Prediction: 2-1 - A ferocious tie at Old Trafford between two great sides but I think United's momentum will prove too much for the Blues.
