McClaren Hints MORE Signings Will Follow Thauvin To Newcastle This Summer

Is this a slip of the tongue? Or is McClaren really looking to add further faces?

Steve McClaren has hinted that Florian Thauvin will not be the final new face to arrive at Newcastle United during this transfer window - by stating he is pleased with the club's incomings "so far" this summer. The Magpies have already brought five players to Tyneside this summer - Georginio Wijnaldum, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Chancel Mbemba, Ivan Toney and Thauvin - and McClaren has suggested that he will still look to strengthen further before the window shuts in less than two weeks' time. Thauvin completed his £14 million move from Marseille on Wednesday, with Remy Cabella moving in the opposite direction on a one-year loan that will likely turn into a permanent deal, and signed a five-year deal with the Magpies.

Although Newcastle have spent north of £50 million on their five acquisitions, McClaren suggested that Thauvin would not be the final addition - and rumours are growing that the Magpies are set to make a bid for Monaco centre-back Aymen Abdennour in the coming days. Speaking to NUFC.co.uk, McClaren said:
"The quality of our signings has been very good. "It's a rebuilding job and a slow process, but it's not eight, nine or 10 players at a time. "We had to make sure we got quality and we have certainly achieved that in our transfersso far this summer."
