Middlesbrough Transfers: Jordan Rhodes Becomes Best Signing Of Deadline Day

What a signing for Boro.

With just a couple of hours left in the transfer window, Middlesbrough have pulled off an inspired move in bringing Jordan Rhodes to the Riverside. It had been thought that the deal was off earlier in the day when it was widely reported that Boro had pulled out, but the North East side have stuck to their guns and brought in one of the Championships best strikers. He's by no means a complete striker, but what he does know is how to put the ball in the back of the net, which will be increasingly important as Boro look to get back into the Premier League. If he can continue the good form he's shown at Blackburn, he will be a big part of that promotion campaign. The fee for the signing remains undisclosed though it was reported to be worth £9m plus add-ons, but if Rhodes can score ten or more goals on the busy run in, he will be an invaluable signing. You really have to wonder why some of the clubs struggling to stay in the Premier League didn't think he was a viable option: they all need to score more goals and the Scotland international is a known quality. Their decision not to pursue the player is now to Boro's benefit, and hopefully we'll see him fire the club back into the top division.
