Newcastle Boss John Carver "Annoyed" His "Best Coach In The Premier League" Quotes Taken Out Of Context

The Newcastle United head coach was not happy with the way his quotes were portrayed.

Newcastle United boss John Carver has revealed he was "annoyed" by the portrayal of his "best coach in the Premier League" comments, believing they were taken out of context. Before the Magpies secured a 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion last weekend to end a run of eight successive defeats, Carver had stated that he believed he was the "best coach in the Premier League". Meaning to highlight his personal belief that he was the correct man for the Newcastle job, Carver's comments were partially taken out of context as he said that he "believed" that to be the case, even if the majority of other people may not agree.
However, Carver also explained that he believes there is a good "spirit" within the Magpies squad as they head to Loftus Road on Saturday looking to secure a win against already-relegated Queens Park Rangers that would all-but guarantee Newcastle's future in the Premier League. The Magpies interim head coach, speaking in his pre-match press conference on Thursday, said:
"The spirit has been good and upbeat but we are not taking out eye off the ball. There is a huge job ahead of us. "There are one or two characters in the QPR team with a point to prove. They will want to finish the season on a high."
Siem de Jong and Adam Armstrong are unavailable for the trip - although Rolando Aarons and Gabriel Obertan are back in the squad after returning to fitness. For all the latest NUFC News, Views and Transfers make sure to follow WhatCultureNUFC on Twitter and Facebook.
