Newcastle Forward Wants To "Improve" And Be "More Clever" In The Premier League

Perez believes there is more to come going forward.

Ayoze Perez has revealed he wants to "keep improving" at Newcastle United - and that he wants to be "more clever" on the ball in the Premier League. The 22-year-old Spaniard was one of the few bright sparks in an otherwise dismal campaign for the Magpies last season, netting seven times in 39 appearances. Signed for just £1.5 million from Tenerife last summer, Perez was expected to only form part of the Magpies' development squad in 2014-15 but more-often-than-not found himself in first-team action.

And, despite scoring a sublime flick against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns and genuinely impressing all round - particularly during the first-half of the campaign - Perez is adamant there is room for improvement. Speaking to The Chronicle after grabbing Newcastle's consolation goal during their 2-1 pre-season friendly loss to York City at Bootham Crescent on Wednesday night, Perez said:
"I want to keep improving and enjoying this team and this league. "I will train very, very hard to improve and keep the good things. I will keep improving. "When I came, I didn't know how the Premier League was. Now I know the Premier League and the football here. "I can be a little more clever sometimes with the ball and show different skills. I can keep the ball or I can play."
Perez's strike on Wednesday was his first in pre-season - and he will hope that helps propel him into the Premier League campaign in good form. For all the latest NUFC News, Views and Transfers make sure to follow WhatCulture.com/NUFC on Twitter and Facebook.
