Newcastle Linked With French International Goalkeeper

Mandanda is the SEVENTH Marseille player NUFC have been linked with this summer.

Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda - should Tottenham Hotspur tempt Tim Krul down to London this summer. Eurosport claim that Spurs are planning to raid the Magpies for Krul if Manchester United sign Hugo Lloris as a replacement for David de Gea, who is being heavily courted by Real Madrid. Valencia and Roma are also said to be tracking the 30-year-old France international goalkeeper, who could be allowed to leave the Stade Velodrome due to the fact he has just a year remaining on his Marseille contract. Interestingly, the Marseille captain is now the seventh player from the club to be linked with a move to Tyneside this summer - after defender Nicolas N'Koulou, winger Florian Thauvin, midfielder Mario Lemina, and forwards Lucas Ocampos (who signed for the club from Monaco last month), Andre-Pierre Gignac (who moved on a free transfer to Mexican side Tigres UANL) and Andre Ayew (who completed a free transfer to Swansea City). Capped 19 times be France, Mandanda started his career at Le Havre and made 70 appearances for the club before Marseille signed him in the summer of 2007. Since then, the Marseille captain has made 368 appearances for the Ligue 1 side and has become one of Europe's most-consistent stoppers.
