Newcastle Move Ahead Of Arsenal And Tottenham In Race For International Forward

NUFC have supposedly made a £10.5 million offer for Lyon's N'Jie.

Newcastle United have made a £10.5 million offer for Lyon forward Clinton N'Jie, according to reports. The Metro report that the Magpies have moved ahead of both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in the chase for the versatile striker after placing an initial offer. However, it seems that Newcastle will need to up their opening bid if they want to lure the 21-year-old to Tyneside, with Lyon holding out for more money for the striker. Newcastle have already signed Aleksandar Mitrovic this summer, and are close to adding Northampton Town forward Ivan Toney to their development squad, but it seems N'Jie is also on their radar. With six goals in just 11 international caps for Cameroon, N'Jie is certainly a player who has started life at the very top level like a freight train. Having progressed through the Lyon academy, N'Jie netted 15 goals in 60 league games for the Ligue 1 side's "B" team. The 5ft 9in forward, who can also play out on the wing due to his pace and trickery, has also scored eight times in 36 appearances for Lyon's first team since breaking through. With Arsenal and Spurs also monitoring his situation, however, Newcastle will do well to hold off such illustrious competition for N'Jie.
