Newcastle: "Outstanding" Ferreyra Must Be Good At Picking Up Cones

Beardsley says Argentinian is "brilliant around the training ground".

Peter Beardsley probably doesn't always agree with what his manager thinks, even if he publicly toes the line and backs Alan Pardew as much as he possibly can, and he clearly doesn't think the same as Pardew about Facundo Ferreyra. Eyebrows have been raised and questions asked about the Argentinian striker who signed on loan this summer and has so far made absolutely zero impact on the first team at Newcastle. He came with a reasonably high billing, having scored well in his native land, and also in Ukraine, before political upheaval forced a career choice, but for most of the past two months he's been in and out of the U21 side. But Pedro believes that Ferreyra is worth the wait, and that he is "outstanding", which seems at odds with the absolute snub he is getting from the man making the Newcastle first team selections at the minute. Following on from the revelation that Fabricio Coloccini recommended his compatriot to Newcastle, it seems Beardsley has been impressed with what he's seen of the Argentine with the U21s:
€œI have to say he€™s been excellent for us. He hasn€™t played many games for us, but he€™s been outstanding.€ €œHe was involved in Arma€™s first goal, and I just look at the things he does for the team and his attitude is incredible.€ €œOne day, hopefully, he€™ll be a top player for us. His attitude is spot on €“ he€™s brilliant around the training ground €“ and really, I couldn€™t praise him enough.€
If he can't be praised enough, why has he not played that much for the U21s? And why hasn't he been considered a possibility for any first team football in the Premier League? Or even the League Cup? There has to be something fundamentally wrong with an outstanding player who simply does not play. Is it injury? Is it disinterest? Surely not the latter is Beardsley - a notorious fan of hard-work - is saying his attitude is spot on. So what is stopping the Argentine from playing? Unless of course all he means by "brilliant around the training ground" is that he's really helpful at collecting the bibs and balls and making sure the cones go away. Because frankly, it's all very baffling if he means anything else.
