Newcastle Set To Sign Hamburg Striker

Sky Sports have stated that the deal has a "strong possibility" of happening.

Newcastle United are set to sign Hamburg's Pierre-Michel Lasogga, according to Sky Sports journalist Pete Graves. The Daily Mail have reported that the Magpies have tabled a £7 million bid for the striker but the German club are holding out for £10 million. The deal will have to be resolved quickly as the transfer window closes in the next 24 hours. It seems Newcastle will have to pay the extra if they want to bring the striker to the club. Many believe that the arrival of Lasogga will mark the end of Papiss Cisse' time on Tyneside, despite the player tweeting today that he is still in the North East and enjoying his bank holiday.

Lasogga joined Hamburg on a five-year deal from Bundesliga rivals Hertha Berlin in 2014 having arrived at the club on loan in 2013.

The striker has already scored this season for Hamburg but only managed four goals in 26 appearances last season.
