Newcastle Told To Pay €20m For Top Striker Target

Diego Rolan is still being linked with a move away from Bordeaux.

Newcastle United have been linked with Diego Rolan all summer but are yet to make a bid for the Bordeaux striker, according Sports Witness.

The website claims that The French side will now listen to offers of around ‚20 million for their Uruguayan striker.

The Magpies could see Rolan - who scored 15 goals last season - as a direct replacement for Papiss Cisse if he were to leave before the end of the transfer window.

Interestingly, last month Bordeaux€™s president confirmed that Newcastle had "been in contact" about the availability of Rolan this summer.

Newcastle may see the 22-year-old as a versatile option to play either through the middle or out wide - and Stoke City also have an interest in the forward - with the Magpies having reportedly ended their pursuit of Queens Park Rangers forward Charlie Austin.

Six-cap Uruguay international Rolan, who has scored one goal to date for his country and played at the 2015 Copa America this summer, moved to France from Defensor Sporting in 2013 after an impressive South American Youth Championship and he has continued to improve at Bordeaux.
