Newcastle Transfer News: £6.9 Million Gomis Offer, Remy Loan Deal

Sky Sports News, Newcastle United are finally making some concrete moves in the transfer market, after a quiet summer that has left fans frustrated. Those reports state that the Magpies have made an improved offer of £6.9million for Lyon forward Bafetimbi Gomis, as well as going to QPR to ask about taking French striker Loic Remy on a season long loan. GomisNews of the increased offer, which is still some way away from the £8.6million valuation placed on him by North East newspaper The Evening Chronicle - who also state that the forward has made Newcastle his preferred choice - comes hot on the heels of the revelation that Gomis is currently AWOL from Lyon. According to the Mail, who claim Lyon want £12million for their striker, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has accused Gomis of failing to show for a crucial meeting to discuss his future and to iron out fees and finances for his proposed move, yesterday in Lyon. Newcastle's interest in Loic Remy, who they missed out on in January after he chose to move to QPR, was confirmed by manager Alan Pardew back on 9th July (via The Telegraph) and Sky Sports now say they've made a loan offer for the French striker. That seems at odds with reports that Remy has a relegation release clause that could see him leave for as little as £6million, but with the Papiss Cisse/Wonga situation now resolved, and the Gomis bid on the table (as well as continued interest in Darren Bent, according to the Mail) Joe Kinnear may be looking at options that do not require an initial outlay to bolster the squad.
