Newcastle Transfer News: Clarence Seedorf Wants Tim Krul As First AC Milan Signing

Italian Serie A giants AC Milan want to sign Newcastle United number one Tim Krul in the January transfer window. The Rossoneri recently appointed playing legend Clarence Seedorf as their new head coach and he wants to sign fellow Dutch international Krul for £8 million, according to the Metro. Krul, 25, has put in some hugely impressive displays for the Magpies this season €“ most notably setting a Premier League record for most saves in a match during the 1-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur in November. Performances like this have alerted Milan and German Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach. There has been widespread speculation across Europe that Gladbach goalie Marc-Andre Ter Stegen could join Barcelona to replace Victor Valdes. So long as he stays fit, Krul looks certain to go to the World Cup with the Netherlands as other keepers Maarten Stekelenburg and Michel Vorm have struggled with injuries this term. A winter move to Milan is unlikely to jeopardise his prospects. If Seedorf signs Krul, it could spell the end for long-serving Rossoneri keeper Christian Abbiati. The 36-year-old has been on the books at the San Siro since 1998 and played almost 350 games for Milan. Seedorf inherits a squad containing four goalies. Abbiati is joined by Marco Amelia, Ferdinando Coppola and Brazilian youngster Gabriel. The Rossoneri sit eleventh in Serie A, 20 points outside the Champions League places and 30 behind league leaders Juventus. Krul has three years left on his Newcastle contract and could be tempted to leave St James' Park by the lure of Champions League football. Milan play Atletico Madrid in the last 16.
