Newcastle Transfer News: Magpies Want Aaron Hunt?

Newcastle United are interested in Werder Bremen's attacking midfielder Aaron Hunt, according to the Journal and sources in Germany. Hunt is out of contract at Bremen this summer and though the Bundesliga outfit are keen to retain the services of their longest-serving player, the 27-year-old is yet to decide his future. The Germany international has told his club that he will not make a decision on his career until February or March, which would appear to rule out a January move. However, Hunt could sign a pre-contract agreement with the Magpies this month, with a view to moving to the north east for nothing later this summer. At 27, Hunt would not appear to match Newcastle's blueprint of recruiting younger stars when it comes to transfer business. But with Remy Cabella, another target for Alan Pardew's side, earlier this week suggesting he is happy to stay put at Montpellier, Newcastle may have to be flexible with their plans. Fearing the departure of Yohan Cabaye at the end of the season, Pardew is keen to bolster his creative options in the middle of the park. Hunt, German-born to an English mother with family in London but roots in the north east, is an attacking midfielder who can also play in wide areas. He has made three senior appearances for the German national side and also turned out at U-16, U-17 and U-21 level, scoring 10 times in 21 total outings for The Eagles.
