Newcastle Transfer News: Marseille's Andre Ayew Eyes Premier League Move

The Magpies, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are all keen on Marseille's Ayew.

Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have been given hope as they chase the signature of Andre Ayew - with the Marseille forward admitting he wants to play in the Premier League next season. The 25-year-old rose up through the ranks at Marseille but he has become disillusioned by their inability to challenge for the title and, following Paris Saint-Germain's third Ligue 1 victory in as many seasons, Ayew has admitted he sees his future away from the Stade Velodrome. Ayew is a free agent this summer as his contract will be up and a whole host of Premier League clubs are queuing up to sign him, with The Sun claiming the Hammers have even opened tentative contract talks with the forward. Newcastle, meanwhile, already have a contingent of French players at the club and have laid down a contact base across the Channel, so would hope to convince Ayew to join.
The 62-cap Ghana international, who scored twice for his nation at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, has been linked with the likes of Newcastle, Arsenal, Spurs, West Ham and Liverpool, and it appears certain he will be in the Premier League soon. Speaking to Romapress, Ayew said this of his future:
"Leaving Marseille? In all honesty, it was a difficult decision to make but I've made it together with (Marseille president) Vincent Labrune. We discussed it at length, but I realised that we weren't sure if we can play the game with teams like PSG and Monaco. "The president tried to do everything to keep me, but the financial situation in Marseille makes it difficult to pay certain salaries. "Where will I go? I still do not know where I will play. I like the Italian league, but I prefer the English league."
Ayew, who has progressed through the youth ranks at Marseille, enjoyed loan spells at Lorient and Arles-Avignon before making his real breakthrough into his parent club€™s first-team side in 2010. He has made 250 career appearances to date, scoring 65 goals, including 58 in 188 for Marseille. The winger has also netted 11 times in 62 internationals for Ghana.
