Newcastle Transfer News Round-Up: Every Player The Magpies Have Been Linked With From June 29th-July 5th

The list continues to rise, but nobody has yet put pen to paper...

Newcastle United are currently midway through an extremely important summer transfer window - yet still no signings are through the door. Having only just confirmed their Premier League status on the final day of last season, Mike Ashley came out and insisted he did not want a repeat of such a scenario during the 2015-16 campaign and would invest to ensure it would not happen again. Steve McClaren was unveiled as the Magpies' new boss more than three-and-a-half weeks ago and yet he has not been able to unveil his first signing at the club - despite more than 40 days having passed since the end of the season. Newcastle have been linked with upwards of 80 - yes that is correct - faces so far this transfer window but the club have failed to get even one signing in to date. Players will depart St James€™ Park in the coming weeks, but equally, at least six incoming signings are wanted. Centre-backs, wingers and strikers are of the utmost priority, with at least two proven forwards wanted by the Magpies. As ever, plenty of players have been linked with a move to St James€™ Park with no action coming out of the club at the time of writing this article. If United could get half of the players they have been linked with over that proverbial line, then next season could be a lot brighter than many could have ever expected. So here are all of the players Newcastle United have been linked to in the past week - there are some exciting, unusual (and also quite frankly ludicrous) names on the list - and exactly how whatculture.com/nufc reported the stories€
